About Iowa 4Cs

4Cs Resource & Referral promotes the well-being of children by assisting families, child care providers, employers and others with their child care needs. We address challenges to the community's child care system and serve as a resource for the development of new programs.

What We Do

• We help parents find permanent and occasional child care.
• We provide trainings for parents and child care providers.
• We help child care providers with issues such as state regulations, nutrition, child behavior, and infant care.
• We operate a toy and educational resource center for parents, grandparents, and educators in the eastern Iowa area.
• We provide temporary, emergency child care for families in need.

4Cs is not a regulatory agency. Therefore, 4Cs cannot make specific endorsements for any program. 4Cs can provide information on quality child care and tools that will assist parents and caregivers in evaluating child care programs.

4Cs Inclement Weather Guidelines
 

• Just as it is extremely difficult to predict the path & severity of winter storms, it is hard to make hard-and-fast rules about when determinations will be made to close our office or to hold classes.
   
  These are our general guidelines:
  1. 4Cs will follow the Iowa City Community School District’s decision for cancellation or early closing. Our office will close and workshops on that day will be postponed/cancelled.  
  2. When school is not in session, we will make the decision as early as possible and will post the closing or cancellation information on our website: www.iowa4cs.com. You may also call our Education & Training office at
     319-338-7684 ext 103 to hear the announcements. This will be done for classes in Johnson and Washington counties.
  3. Monitor the local TV channels or their websites for announcements about the locations of the classes and whether they are closed. For example, if Kirkwood College or Grant Wood AEA closes, classes scheduled for those locations will not be held.
  4. CPR, UP & 1st Aid Classes on Saturdays at GWAEA in Coralville. National Safety Training Services will determine by 7:00 a.m. if classes will be canceled. Check their website: www.nstssafety.com or call toll free 1-888-852-5717.
